Patrick Grasso, a sophomore from Ankeny, Iowa, recorded a goal and an assist to propel the UNH men’s hockey team to a 4-3 victory against Bentley University on Dec. 30 at the Whittemore Center. It was the first multiple-point game of the season for the 5-foot-7, 170-pound forward.
Patrick set up UNH’s goal at 14:01 of the first period that gave the Wildcats a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish. With the ‘Cats leading 3-2 in the second stanza, his second power-play goal of the year reestablished a two-goal lead and proved to be the game-winning goal.
He also recorded a game-high eight shots. In comparison, Bentley finished with a total of 16 shots.
In 17 games this season, Patrick has recorded two goals and three assists for five points, and he leads the team with 50 shots. He has two game-winning goals this season; in addition to the strike vs. Benley, Patrick netted the game-winner vs. Miami University on Nov. 24.
In 69 career games, Patrick has 48 points on 24 goals and 24 assists.
The UNH men’s hockey team returns to action Jan. 4 against Merrimack College, and the ‘Cats then play host to Yale University on Jan. 5. Both games are at the Whittemore Center with a 7 p.m. start time. Friday’s game will be televised on NESN.
