Zeepvat records career-best 10 saves

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Junior forward Madison Donati (Pacifica, Calif.) and senior forward Greta Caulton (Amherst, N.H.) each recorded a goal and an assist, while senior goalkeeper Sonja Zeepvat (Mendham, N.J.) made a career-best 10 saves to lead the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team to a 4-2 victory over Merrimack on Wednesday night at Martone-Mejail Field.

Donati's three-point performance included the first goal and first points of her collegiate career. Caulton netted her first goal of the season, while junior forward Ava VanBuskirk (Marlborough, Mass.) scored her team-leading third goal of the year. Sophomore defender Abby Beasley (Fishers, Ind.) added her second goal of the season, and freshman forward Dulce Lytle (Wyomissing, Pa.) recorded her first collegiate point with an assist.

UNH improved to 3-1-2 with its third consecutive victory, while Merrimack fell to 2-3-1.

The Wildcats have scored four goals in each of their last two games, following a 4-1 victory over Northeastern on Aug. 30. The last time UNH scored four or more goals over two consecutive games was a 4-1 win over Harvard on Sept. 25, 2011, and a 5-3 win over UAlbany on Sept. 29, 2011.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Zeepvat preserved a scoreless match in the 23rd minute with a pair of impressive saves, including a diving stop on Isabella Keogh's shot followed by a save on Daniela Almeida's rebound attempt.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute (26:46) when Donati unleashed a shot from nearly 30 yards out that found the upper-left corner for her first collegiate goal. Caulton assisted on the play.
Merrimack evened the score in the 34th minute (33:42) on Lucia Antonucci's strike to the upper-left corner, but UNH regained the lead in the 43rd minute (42:04) when Beasley converted a penalty kick into the lower-right corner of the net.
The Wildcats extended their advantage to 3-1 just before halftime. With 9.1 seconds remaining, VanBuskirk headed home Lytle's pass from 10 yards out.
Merrimack pulled within one goal in the 78th minute (77:14) on Almeida's tally, but Caulton sealed the victory with a goal from six yards out in the 80th minute (79:57). Donati earned the assist.

Merrimack held a 22-11 advantage in total shots.
The Warriors took 12 shots on goal, while the Wildcats had six.
MC earned six corner kicks, while UNH finished with two.
Zeepvat made 10 saves en route to her third win of the season, while Addison Israel tallied two for the Warriors.
