Matt Vautrin was named Assistant Athletic Director, Financial Operations in October 2024. In this role, Vautrin is responsible for overseeing the areas of financial management, business operations and human resources for the UNH Wildcats.
Prior to arriving at UNH, Vautrin previously served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations at Long Island University. As a member of the senior leadership team for an NCAA Division I athletics department that consisted of 38 sports across two campuses (Brooklyn and Post) and boasted more than 1,000 student-athletes and 150 staff members, he oversaw the Athletics Business and Finance Office, which manages the department’s financial reporting, budget development and business operations. He also monitored the athletics department’s $40 million operating budget and served as the primary liaison between the athletics department and the university’s business & finance office. Vautrin was the primary sport administrator for men’s/women’s cross country, wrestling, field hockey, women’s gymnastics, and men’s/women’s tennis.Â
Vautrin got his initial start in collegiate athletics working as an Athletics Administration Graduate Assistant at Western New England University. In this role, Vautrin reported to the Associate Athletic Director for Finance and assisted the athletics department’s senior administration team with frontline business operations oversight. Upon graduation from WNE, he later went on to become an Athletics Operations and Business Manager at Russell Sage College. In this role for Sage Athletics, as part of the senior management team, he had direct oversight of all financial aspects of the department. He reconfigured the athletics department’s internal budget structure to mirror the NCAA’s compliance bylaws and financial reporting structure to advocate for additional institutional funding in support of further budget development.Â
A native of Saratoga, N.Y., Vautrin earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from SUNY Brockport in 2020. He continued his education by earning a Master of Science in Sport Leadership & Coaching from Western New England University in 2022.
