Russell, Edgerton earn All-Conference honors

VESTAL, N.Y. — Matt Russell (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) finished fifth overall to lead a quintet of Wildcats in the top 20 and the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team to a second-place finish at the America East Championship, which was held Saturday at Binghamton University.

BOSTON — Matt Russell (Ogdensburg, N.Y.), a senior on the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team, was named Performer of the Week by America East on Tuesday.


UNH placed three runners in the top 20 and recorded 99 points to easily defeat runner-up New York University, which finished with 128 points in the 27-team field. Fellow America East members Albany (267 points) and Binghamton University (387) place eighth and 14th, respectively.


BOSTON - The University of New Hampshire men's cross country team amassed 718 points to place 27th in the New England Men's Varsity 2005 Cross Country Championship, which was held Oct. 8 at Franklin Park.


ORONO, Maine — Robert Edgerton (Cornish, N.H.) was the first Wildcat to cross the finish line in 31st place to lead the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team to a seventh-place finish at the Murray Keatinge Invitational, which was held Oct. 1 at the University of Maine.


Edgerton leads 'Cats with third-place finish

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Bobby Edgerton (Cornish, N.H.) was the top Wildcat and third overall finisher to lead the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team to Saturday afternoon's third-place finish at the Binghamton University Invitational.


BOSTON — The University of New Hampshire men's cross country team is favored to win its fourth conference title of the 21st century as the Wildcats were voted No. 1 in the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll that was released Wednesday afternoon.


Bobby Edgerton (Cornish, N.H.) led a pack of four Wildcats with a time of 25 minutes, 41 seconds - just two seconds behind the third-place finisher from PC - to place fourth. Ben Danton(New Milford, Conn.) was next to cross the finish line in 25:48 and he was followed by Matthew Russell (Ogdensburg, N.Y.; 25:50) in sixth and Tony Truax (Dover, N.H.; 26:00) in seventh.
