Wildcats Take Care of Saint Peter's, Win 3-0 in Straight Sets

DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team took care of business against the Saint Peter's University (0-2, 0-0 Metro) on Saturday afternoon (Aug. 29) at Lundholm Gymnasium, winning 3-0 in straight sets. The set scores were 25-12, 25-19, and 25-20.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
-The Wildcats offense got to work immediately, starting the match on a 5-0 run, powered by a pair of kills from Dylan Hunt (Pickerington, Ohio).
-New Hampshire quickly expanded on their early lead, with three kills from Rachel Grier (Dublin, Calif.) and a pair of scores from Emma Converse (San Antonio, Texas) powering the 'Cats to a 10-6 run, taking a 15-6 set lead.
-Following a pair of kills from the Peacocks, New Hampshire closed the set on a 10-4 run with scores coming from four individuals to take the first frame 25-12.
SET 2
-After a set-opening kill from St. Peter's, the Wildcats got back to work, ripping off six-straight points, powered by three service aces and a kill from Hunt.
-Following the fast start, New Hampshire settled into a back-and-forth battle with the Peacocks, edging them on the scoresheet 19-18 to take the set 25-19.
-Converse led the way for the 'Cats, putting up a team-high four kills in the frame, while Jessica Shattles (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) added four assists.
SET 3
-New Hampshire's offense continued to apply pressure in the early going of the third set, with a pair of kills from Grier and Olivia Maulding (Canby, Ore.) powering the 'Cats to a 12-7 set lead.
-The Peacocks and Wildcats traded blows through the remainder of the set, each team posting 17 points apiece, culminating in a 25-20 set win for the Wildcats, awarding them the match 3-0.
-On defense, Hady Pickard (Roswell, Ga.) provided a set-high seven digs, while Grier posted four kills.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Eleven different players earned a kill in the win, highlighted by an 11-kill day for Emma Converse, extending her streak to two games with 10+ kills.
-Jessica Shattles led the way with 21 assists, while also providing a service ace and six digs.
-Dylan Hunt matched her career-high in service aces, leading the team with three strikes off the serve.
-Defensively, Olivia Maulding and Varvara Zvereva (Korolev, Russia) led the team at the net front, providing five and four block assists, respectively, while Hady Pickard provided a match-high 15 digs.
-Converse led the team in points with 14, while Grier and Maulding followed with 9.5 and 7.5 points, respectively.
