Senior Earns Honor for Third Time This Season
WEIRTON, W. Va. – UNH senior gymnast Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) earned her third EAGL Gymnast of the Week award of the season following her standout performance in a quad meet at No. 22 N.C. State on Feb. 27, the East Atlantic Gymnastics League announced Tuesday.
Mullin, who was previously feted Jan. 21 and Feb. 4, captured the honor for Week 9 after winning the all-around championship with a 39.175 as part of the Wildcats' second-place showing in Raleigh, N.C. that included victories against George Washington and Yale. It marked Mullin's fourth all-around title of the season for the EAGL regular-season champion Wildcats (15-3, 4-0 EAGL).
The native of Hamden, Conn., tied for the team-leading score on vault by equaling her season high with a 9.825 for the second consecutive meet. She also boasted UNH's top score on uneven bars (9.800) and is EAGL's No. 2-ranked bar performer with a 9.800 National Qualifying Score (NQS). Her 9.800 floor exercise score made it four meets this season -and back-to-back meets- in which she registered a 9.800 or higher in three events.
