Wilson Named Semifinalist for Campbell Trophy

IRVING, Texas – Chase Wilson (Lake Charles, La.) of the University of New Hampshire football team has been named to the remarkable list of 178 semifinalists for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy®, college football's premier scholar-athlete award. The announcement was made Wednesday by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame.
The impressive list of candidates from all NCAA divisions and the NAIA includes 92 semifinalists, including Wilson, who has already earned a bachelor's degree.
Wilson, is a first-year Wildcat, completed his undergraduate degree in Economics with a minor in African American Studies at Wesleyan University in December 2024 with a 3.46 cumulative GPA. The grad student is currently pursuing an MBA degree at UNH.
In four games this season, the wide receiver has made an immediate impact with a team-high 278 receiving yards on 17 catches, which ranks second. His two receiving TDs also leads the team. Wilson became the first 'Cat to record 100+ receiving yards in a game this season with 120 on six catches Sept. 20 at Dartmouth College.

In three seasons at Wesleyan, he caught 110 passes for 1,883 yards and 20 touchdowns in 27 games for averages of 4.1 receptions per game, 17.1 yards per reception and 69.2 receiving yards per game.
Wilson led the team in receptions, receiving yards ad TD catches in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He was named All-NESCAC First Team both years and was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year, as well as to the All-New England Team, in 2024.
In 2024 as a senior captain, he had 43 catches for 834 yards and seven TDs to lead the Cardinals to an 8-1 record; those numbers calculate to averages of 19.4 yards per catch and 92.7 yards per game.
Wilson was the clear-cut No. 1 receiver as he accounted for 34 percent of the team's receptions, 42 percent of the receiving yards and 50 percent of the TD catches in the 2024 season.
As a junior in 2023, finished with 49 catches for 785 yards and 10 touchdowns for averages of 16.0 yards per catch and 87.2 yards per game.
Off the field at Wesleyan, Wilson was a group leader in the student-Athlete of Color Council. In that role, he assisted in the planned training of two representatives per varsity team in the diversity and inclusion program. He also communicated with administration to further diversify the Wesleyan athletic platform.
Wilson assisted in the creation of PowerPoints at Wesleyan to build a foundational understanding of corporate finance through weekly meetings including accounting and valuation fundamentals, recruiting processes, and interview preparation.
Celebrating its 36th year, the Campbell Trophy® recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
The NFF will announce 12-16 finalists on Oct. 22, and the finalists will travel to the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 9, when the winner will be announced.
Nominated by their schools, which are limited to one nominee each, candidates for the awards must be a senior who will complete his final year of eligibility in the 2025 season or a graduate student or graduate transfer who has already earned a degree and is participating in the 2025 season; have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale; have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor; and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
