
Five 'Cats Named to NFF Hampshire Society

IRVING, Texas – Five players on the University of New Hampshire football team were named to the 2025 NFF Hampshire Honor Society on Wednesday by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame. The honored Wildcats are Wande Owens (Cooksville, Md.), Josiah Silver (Hampton, Va.), Logan Tomlinson (Manchester, Conn.), Ryan Toscano (Bedford, N.H.), and Gavin Urda (Milford, N.H.).
The 2025 NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA and sprint football who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.
Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must be either: a senior player who will graduate this spring/summer and just completed his final year of playing eligibility in 2024; or a graduated player who has been out of high school at least three years.
Honorees must have: attained a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 (4.0 scale) and been a starter or significant contributor throughout the 2024 season.
Silver, Tomlinson, Toscano and Urda all earned High Honors with Distinction from CAA Football for recording a perfect 4.0 GPA in Fall 2024, while Owens received Honors recognition.
Fans will have their first opportunity to check out the 2025 Wildcats in the Spring Blue-White Game on Thursday, May 1 at Wildcat Stadium. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free to the public.
New Hampshire kicks off the 2025 season Aug. 30 at North Carolina Central and the home opener is scheduled for Sept. 6 (6 p.m.) against the College of the Holy Cross.

Owens earned a Computer Science bachelor's degree at Yale University with a 3.70 cumulative GPA. In 2024 as a UNH Wildcat, Owens ranked second on the team in total tackles (111) and No. 5 in the CAA in tackles per game (8.5). His stats included a team-high 59 solo tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, an interception, one pass breakup, a forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He recorded 10+ tackles in a game six times and was the team's top tackler in 6 of 13 games. Owens' 2024 accolades included All-ECAC Team, CAA Football First Team and New England Team.
Silver received a Sport Management & Leadership bachelor's degree with a 3.38 GPA. He was named to five All-America teams in 2024, as well as Defensive Player of the Year by both CAA Football and the ECAC. Silver was also selected a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award (top defensive player in FCS football) and semifinalist for the Ted Hendricks Award (top defensive end in all divisions).
Silver ranked No. 3 in the nation in sacks per game and 11th in tackles for loss per game. He was UNH's leader in both sacks (11.5) and tackles for loss (17.5), as well as quarterback hurries (four), and he ranked third in both solo tackles (32) and total tackles (58). The captain also had a forced fumble to his credit.
Tomlinson earned bachelor degrees in both Economics and Psychology with a 3.89 GPA. He ended the UNH season ranked No. 14 in the nation in receptions per game (6.2) and 18th in TD receptions (nine). Tomlinson was UNH's leader in receptions (80), receiving yards (826) and TD receptions. The 80 receptions ranks No. 7 on UNH's list of single-season superlatives.
The grad student wide receiver and captain scored a touchdown in 8 of 13 games, had eight games of 5+ catches and nine games of 50+ receiving yards. He was an All-New England Team and Second Team All-CAA selection in '24.
Toscano received a Business Administration: Finance bachelor's degree with a 3.75 GPA. He was UNH's top tackler for the third consecutive year with 118 this past season. His 77 assisted tackles were also a team high and he ranked second with 41 solo stops. The captain ranked second in both tackles for loss (7.0) and sacks (4.0). Toscano's other stats included three pass breakups, three quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery.
Toscano was the Wildcats' leading tackler in 6 of 13 games, including each of the last four with 57 tackles in that span. The linebacker capped his career with a personal-best 18 tackles in the NCAA first round game Toscano was a Second Team All-CAA honoree.
Urda has a 3.72 GPA in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Business Administration: Accounting. He was an instrumental part of UNH's kickoff coverage team that ranked 13th in the nation in yards allowed per return (16.70). The cornerback was credited with 10 solo tackles and five assisted tackles for a total of 15, and he also recovered a fumble.
Urda was a 2024 Third Team All-CAA selection on special teams.
An elite group of 2,532 players from 339 schools qualified for NFF Hampshire Honor Society membership in 2025 to set a record for the number of members in a single year in the Society's 19th year. The initiative has now honored 20,919 student-athletes since its inception.
