Mullin named EAGL co-Gymnast of Week; Reade earns sixth EAGL Rookie of Week award
WEIRTON, W. Va. – Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.), a junior on the UNH gymnastics team, was named EAGL co-Gymnast of the Week, and freshman Aine Reade (Merrimac, Mass.) garnered EAGL Rookie of the Week honors for the sixth time in seven weeks, the East Atlantic Gymnastics League announced Wednesday.
The duo helped the Wildcats post their highest road score of the season (194.500) in a runner-up finish at Yale's quad meet with Towson and Brown on Sunday.
Mullin, who previously won the EAGL Gymnast of the Week award on Jan. 29, scored a personal-best 39.000 to capture Sunday's all-around championship. She is ranked No. 2 in EAGL with an all-around National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 38.685. The junior tied a personal best on uneven bars with a 9.725 and helped lead the Wildcats to their highest bar score of the season (48.650). She headlined UNH's balance beam lineup with a 9.775 for a share of fourth place and is ranked No. 3 in EAGL with a 9.775 beam NQS. Mullin was part of a fourth-way tie on floor exercise with a 9.825, which equaled her second-highest mark of the season in that event. Her 9.810 floor NQS is No. 5 in EAGL.
Reade's vault 9.775 (T-fifth) missed a PB by 0.025 and helped the Wildcats tally a season-best 48.925 on that apparatus. The Merrimac, Mass., native equaled her career high with a 9.725 on bars as part of UNH's best bar mark of the year. With her 9.825 on floor (T-fourth), Reade remained No. 1 in EAGL in that event with a 9.850 NQS; she has never scored below a 9.800 on floor in eight career meets.
