Alyson Hush netted two goals while the ‘Cats earned a point
DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team fell late to Maine (6-11-1, 3-5-1 HEA) on Friday evening (Dec. 5), falling to the Black Bears 4-3 in overtime at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- New Hampshire jumped onto the scoreboard 3:50 into the opening frame, when Nina Rossi (Pittsgrove, N.J.) put a try on net, bouncing around the crease and off the stick of Kristen Hartman (Newmarket, Ontario) before finding Alyson Hush (Scarborough, Ontario), who fired home while Maine's Kiia Lahtinen was out of position, giving the 'Cats the 1-0 lead on the power-play.
- The Black Bears knotted things up 1:50 later, when Lila Shea won the puck on the wall behind the net, finding Danielle Brunette in front for a one-time feed, making it a 1-1 game.
- The Wildcats regained their one goal advantage midway through the opening frame, when Rossi found Hush in the crease, who struck for her second power-play score of the period, giving New Hampshire the 2-1 advantage through the opening 20 minutes.
- Maine knotted things up late in the second period, when Brunette crashed the net, flicking the puck over Noemi Martinez (Glen Ridge, N.J.) to tie things up with 29.3 seconds to go.
- The Black Bears earned their first lead of the night 7:25 into the third period, when Stephanie Jacob collected a loose puck in the New Hampshire defensive zone, firing from the face-off circle and beating Martinez glove-side for the 3-2 advantage.
- With time winding down and Martinez on the bench, Aurora Kahlert (Maple Ridge, British Columbia) found Rossi in the right face-off circle, shooting the puck on a rope through traffic and beating Kiia Lahtinen to tie it up with 14.3 seconds to play.
- Maine netted the game-winning goal off the opening face-off in overtime, when Kendall Sundby pulled a move on Martinez, beating her to take the game 4-3.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Alyson Hush logged her sixth-career multi-point game of her career, including her fifth of the season, while Nina Rossi finished with three points (1g, 2a), her second three-point game of her career and third multi-point game of the season. In total, five players logged a point in the overtime loss.
- Additionally, Hush finished as the only Wildcat with a positive plus/minus rating, logging a plus-one.
- 14 players tallied a shot attempt in the loss, paced by a five-shot showing from Hush and another three from Aurora Kahlert and Courtney Lilley (Wakefield, Mass.).
- On special teams, the Wildcats finished two for five on the power-play, led by Hush's pair of first period goals, while holding Maine to 0-for-3.
- On defense, four different players blocked a shot.
- Noemi Martinez closed her night in net denying 21-of-25 shots faced for an .840 save percentage.
