Guarente Leads UNH Past BU in 1-0 Victory

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team edged Boston University 1-0 in a hard-fought battle on Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.
Senior Meghan Guarente (Sewell, N.J.) netted the game's only goal in the 61st minute, blasting home a rebound.
Redshirt junior captain Sally Rainey (West Lebanon, N.H.), the reigning America East Defensive Player of the Week, made four saves to record her fourth shutout of the season and 12th of her career.
Boston University goalie Celia Braun made three saves.
The 'Cats improve to 5-1-1 on the season, while the Terriers fall to 0-5-2.

A BU defender made the initial save, but Guarente quickly followed, knocking it into the back of the net to put the Wildcats ahead 1-0.
- In the 69th minute, Guarente nearly doubled the lead with a powerful strike from 25 yards out, but Braun used a full extension to knock it away.
- Guarente notched a goal for the third consecutive game. She has now scored a goal in 5 of 7 contests this season.
- Rainey and the Wildcats' defense earned their fourth clean sheet of the season and third consecutive.
- UNH recorded a 13-9 shot advantage, including 5-4 on goal.
- The Wildcats had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
- The Wildcats now hold a 9-17-1 lifetime record against the Terriers.
