Wildcats Earn 2-0 Victory in First America East Matchup
DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory against Vermont in its first conference matchup of the season on Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.
Senior Meghan Guarente (Sewell, N.J.) opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a left-footed strike, assisted by graduate Delaney Lappin (Corbin City, N.J.).
Junior Elaina Grenz (River Edge, N.J.) added a second goal in the 41st minute, capitalizing on a breakaway after winning the ball from a Vermont defender.
Redshirt junior captain Sally Rainey (West Lebanon, N.H.) made four saves to secure her fifth shutout of the season.
Vermont goalkeeper Kylee Carafoli recorded two saves.
The Wildcats improve to 6-2-1 on the season, while the Catamounts fall to 5-2-3.
