Juodikis Named Captain with Truter and Verrier as Assistant Captains

DURHAM, N.H. – Kira Juodikis (LaSalle, Ontario) has been named captain while both Chavonne Truter (Uxbridge, Ontario) and Shea Verrier (Reading, Mass.) will serve as assistant captains for the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team in the 2024-25 season.
Juodikis is a second-year captain as a senior forward. She earned Hockey East Third Team All-Star recognition last season, when she was UNH's leader in both goals (15) and points (25) as well as power-play goals (five) and shots (97). She also ranked second in shooting percentage (.155). Juodikis tied for the league lead in power-play goals, tied for fifth in goals and also tied for 12th in points.
Her highlights included a five-point opening weekend of four goals and an assist, three consecutive multiple-point games, and a four-game point streak to end the regular season with a pair of two-goal games during that stretch.
Truter, a senior forward, netted 10 goals and recorded five assists for a total of 15 points to rank fourth on the team in goals and tied for fifth in points. She tied atop UNH's plus/minus leaderboard at +10 and ranked second in shots with 75. In the faceoff circle, Truter ranked third in win percentage (.490) and fourth in faceoff wins (149).
Truter scored a goal in both Hockey East postseason games, including the game-winning tally in the quarterfinal. She recorded a +2 rating in postseason play as part of a +8 spanning the last 16 games.
Verrier, another senior forward, recorded 11 goals and 13 assists for a total of 24 points; she tied atop the team assist leaderboard, ranked second in points and tied for second in goals. Verrier led all Wildcats with 235 faceoff wins and also had a high of 507 total faceoffs.
Her highlights included a six-point weekend against the University of Maine in which she tallied two goals and two assists in the first game of the series, and a two-goal effort in the regular-season finale at Boston College to help the 'Cats secure third place in the Hockey East standings. Also of note, Verrier recorded 10+ faceoff wins in eight games.
UNH, led by 11th-year head coach Hilary Witt, will play an exhibition game against Maine on Sept. 22 (4 p.m.) at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex. The Wildcats open the season with an Oct. 4 home game against Assumption University at 6 p.m.
