Graduate student scores 39.400, highlighted by career-high 9.875 beam score
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Graduate student Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) of the UNH gymnastics team scored a 39.400 in the all-around at Friday afternoon's Session 1 of the NCAA Gainesville Regional Championship, hosted by the University of Florida in the Exactech Arena at Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
Gorgenyi set the tone in the opening rotation by establishing a career-high 9.875 on balance beam. She scored a 9.825 on floor exercise, a 9.800 on vault and closed the afternoon with a 9.900 on uneven bars.
In the afternoon session, Utah scored a 197.825 and Michigan State followed with a 197.475. Each of those teams advanced to Sunday's NCAA Gainesville Regional Final. Maryland placed third in Session I (196.350), and Towson took fourth (195.050).
In Friday night's Session II quad meet, No. 4 Florida scored a 197.925 and No. 13 Missouri totaled a 197.525. The Gators and Tigers move to the Regional Final, while Georgia (197.425) and Iowa State (196.575) were eliminated.
