Minaev Named EAGL co-Rookie of the Week

Freshman scored personal-best 9.875 on floor exercise in Sunday’s quad meet win
TOWSON, Md. – Freshman Poulina Minaev (Smithtown, N.Y.) of the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team earned the EAGL co-Rookie of the Week award, the East Atlantic Gymnastics League announced Wednesday.
Last Sunday at LIU's Pratt Recreation Center, Minaev tied for runner-up in floor exercise with a personal-best 9.875 to propel UNH to a 49.075 floor score, its highest of the meet. The native of Smithtown, N.Y., upped her floor score by 0.250 points from her debut performance Jan. 14, and the Wildcats (4-1, 1-0 EAGL) defeated LIU, Yale and Southern Connecticut State with a season-high 195.400.
Minaev shared the Rookie of the Week honor with LIU's Brisa Carraro.

•The Wildcats travel to Towson on Friday, Jan. 26 for a 6 p.m. meet in TU Arena that includes the host Tigers, George Washington, LIU and Cornell. The five-team meet will be broadcast on YouTube as part of Towson's pink meet, the Chelli Calloway Invitational.
