'Cats Retain Granite Bowl with 24-7 Victory vs. Dartmouth

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior captain Dylan Laube (Westhampton, N.Y.) rushed for 180 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead the 11th-ranked University of New Hampshire football team to Saturday night's 24-7 victory against Dartmouth College at Wildcat Stadium. UNH retains the Granite Bowl with the win.
Laube also had six catches for 31 yards and three punt returns for 12 yards for a total of 223 all-purpose yards. In strong winds, junior captain Max Brosmer (Roswell, Ga.) was limited to 11-for-23 passing for 67 yards and a TD.
Randall Harris (Walled Lake, Mich.) blocked a 44-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter and also had an interception. Max Oxendine (Chester, Va) had seven tackles and an INT. Joe Eichman (Merrimack, N.H.) finished with a team-high eight tackles. Isaac Seide (Everett, Mass.) had UNH's other takeaway when he recovered a muffed kickoff at the start of the third quarter.
Dartmouth quarterback Nick Howard was the Big Green's top ground gainer with 10 rushes for 62 yards. Q Jones had 14 carries for 55 yards and scored DC's lone touchdown. Dylan Cadwallader completed 16 of 30 passes for 195 yards. Both Howard and Cadwallader threw an INT. Paxton Scott was the top target with 10 catches for 153 yards. Braden Mullen led all players with 10 tackles, including two tackles for loss.

FIRST QUARTER
- UNH had a 106-38 edge in total yards in a scoreless first quarter.
- On their first possession of the game, the Big Green marched 38 yards to the UNH 27, but Harris blocked Owen Zalc's 44-yard field goal attempt.
- On the ensuing possession, UNH was stopped on 4th-and-goal from the DC 2.
SECOND QUARTER
- Brosmer connected with Laube on a 4-yard pass play to cap a 9-play, 44-yard drive that consumed 5:28 off the clock. Nick Mazzie (Boxford, Mass.) kicked the PAT to give the 'Cats a 7-0 lead at 12:36.
- Harris' interception and 34-yard return gave UNH possession on the DC 33. Six plays later, Mazzie's 33 yards extended the Wildcats' lead to 10-0 with 52 seconds on the clock.
THIRD QUARTER
- Both teams recorded two first downs in the scoreless third quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Dartmouth scored on the opening play of the fourth quarter on Jones' 4-yard run up the middle to close within 10-7.
- UNH responded with a 5-play, 52-yard drive capped by Brosmer's 31-yard TD run down the left sideline to reestablish a 10-point lead, 17-7, at 12:16.
- Oxendine's interception and 43-yard return gave UNH possession at the DC 27.
- Five plays later, Laube scored on a two-yard fourth-down run to extend the led to 24-7 at 7:47.
- Dartmouth's last two drives stalled at the UNH 37 – on a pass break-up by Caleb Mead (Willow Grove, Pa.) – and the UNH 22, when Noah Palm (Reinholds, Pa.) stopped a 4th-and-2 pass for a one-yard gain.

- Dartmouth had a 314-274 edge in total yards.
- UNH recorded three takeaways and did not commit a giveaway to finish with a +3 turnover ratio.

- The 33 rushes were a career high for Laube. Both his six catches and 31 receiving yards were team highs.
- Laube entered UNH's Top 10 list for career rushing yards with 2,327; he supplanted Avrom Smith (1991-94), who had 2,237.
- Harris leads all active Wildcats with seven career interceptions.
- It was the first career INT for Oxendine.
