Martell Sets Top 800m Time in America East at Friar Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -Â Junior Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) set the top time in the America East in the 800m run as the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team competed in the Friar Invitational at the Ray Treacy Track at Hendricken Field Friday evening.

Martell's time of 2:06.39 in the 800m is a new team-best in the 800m run this year and set a new top mark in the America East. She finished the race in third place out of 34 runners in her 800m outdoor season debut and was the second collegiate runner to cross the finish line.

Martell now ranks first in the conference in the 800m run, 1500m run, and is fourth in the 400m run.
Â
Sophomore Claire Ronan (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) set a new personal best in the 800m run with a time of 2:15.89, finishing the race in 16th place.

Graduate student Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) finished the metric mile in sixth place with a time of 4:52.89.
NEXT UP
The 'Cats traveled as a split squad this weekend and will conclude the UConn Northeast Challenge tomorrow afternoon. The Wildcats return to action when they travel to Cushing Field Complex at UMass Lowell on Friday, April 21-Satuday, April 22.
