Thomason Named CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore running back Myles Thomason (Montclair, N.J.) of the University of New Hampshire football team was named the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.
Thomason returned a punt 89 yards for a touchdown to give UNH a 41-17 lead at 2:56 of the third quarter en route to Saturday's 44-25 victory against the University of Maine at Wildcat Stadium.
His efforts helped the Wildcats retain the Brice-Cowell Musket by winning the Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle vs. Maine.
Thomason recorded a game-high 174 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns in the Border Battle; it was the first time he scored multiple TDs in a game. Thomason had two punt returns for 108 yards, including the aforementioned career-long 89-yard TD – his first punt return for a score.
Thomason also had a career-high 16 carries for 55 yards and two catches for 11 yards, including a 10-yard TD on a shovel pass that gave the Wildcats a 20-7 lead at 12:04 of the second quarter.
Prior to this past weekend, Thomason had one career punt return: a 61-yarder in this year's season opener at Stonehill College.
It is the first collegiate accolade for Thomason. It is UNH's fourth CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week award this season.
New Hampshire ended the season with a 6-5 overall record that included 4-4 in the CAA.
