Wildcats Overcome by Merrimack on the Road, 1-0

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Graduate student Cat Sheppard (Nesconset, N.Y.) made five saves against Merrimack as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell, 1-0 to the Warriors on Thursday evening.
The Wildcats' record falls to 2-4-0 and the Warriors improve to 2-4-1.
UP NEXT:
- The Wildcats return to action on Sunday Sept. 11, for their 2 p.m. matchup against Boston University at Wildcat Stadium.

FIRST HALF:
- Merrimack struck first in the 13th minute as Molly Murnane found the back of the net for the Warriors on a low shot to the left side of the goal. Ella Cormier and Julia Ostermann recorded assists on the goal.
SECOND HALF:
- In the 67th minute, graduate student goalkeeper Sheppard made a fantastic save on a shot by Cormier that would have given the Warriors a two-goal lead.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- UNH had the advantage with seven corner kicks compared to the Merrimack three.
- The Wildcats outshot the Warriors 9-8.
- Sheppard had five saves while Lily Morgan had three.
