Gorgenyi Leads 'Cats to Tri-Meet Victory at Temple

Junior takes first on vault and uneven bars; scores 9.850 in three events
PHILADELPHIA – Junior Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) scored a 9.850 in three events, including first-place results on vault and uneven bars, to lead the UNH gymnastics team to a team score of 195.950 in Sunday's tri-meet victory against host Temple and West Chester at McGonigle Hall.
The Owls placed second with a 195.150, and the Golden Rams scored a 192.950.
Gorgenyi won bars in the opening rotation and took first on vault in the final rotation to help the Wildcats improve to 9-7 on the season.
"We are glad to be coming home with a good away score," head coach Lindsey Bruck Ayotte said. "We had three strong events and are looking forward to building off this weekend toward a great Senior Meet next Sunday."

HOW IT HAPPENED
•The Wildcats set the tone by sweeping the top four results on bars and totaling a 49.025. Senior Hailey Lui (Collegeville, Pa.) was runner-up with a 9.825, followed by a third-place deadlock (9.800) between junior Kenadi Brown (Las Vegas, Nev.) and graduate student Kylie Kratchwell (Sewell, N.J.).
•Lui was the top Wildcat on balance beam with a 9.875, which shared third place. Freshman Summer Simpkins (Audubon, N.J.) established a personal best with a 9.850 (sixth place), and sophomore Sierra Bauman (Wallingford, Conn.) set her own career high with a 9.825 (T-7th) to help the Wildcats amass a 49.000. TU's Ariana Castrence and Julianna Roland shared first place (9.925).
•Freshman Gracy Mowers (Middleton, Mass.) headlined UNH's floor lineup with a career-high 9.875, which earned a share of second place behind TU's Brooke Danabedian (9.950). Gorgenyi tied for fifth place (9.850), while Brown and junior Alyssa Worthington (West Warwick, R.I.) tallied a 9.825 (T-8th) as UNH scored a 49.125.
•Gorgenyi's vault triumph was supported by a personal-best matching 9.825 from senior Mariella Miele (Basking Ridge, N.J.) for second place. Mowers was part of a four-way tie with a 9.775, and the Wildcats totaled a 48.800 to wrap up the meet.
