Dean and Heine selected to America East All-Academic Team

DURHAM, N.H. -- Senior middle distance runner Lauren Dean (Gilmanton Iron Works, Pa.) and senior pole vaulter Danielle Heine (Waverly, Pa.) of the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team were two of 11 student-athletes selected to the America East Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team, which was announced by the conference office on Thursday.
"We are very proud of Lauren and Danielle, they are the epitome of what a student-athlete should be," said UNH head coach Robert Hoppler. "Over their four years at the University of New Hampshire they have balanced the demands of high level academic achievement and athletic excellence. It is a privilege to have these outstanding individuals on the UNH track and field team."
Dean, who is a Nursing major with a 3.88 GPA, has been on the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll the last three years and has been on the Dean's List seven semesters with the Wildcats. She has also been a Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society recipient. Dean took the bronze in the 5,000 meters with a career-best time of 17 minutes, 17.08 seconds at the AE Championships and also had a solid sixth-place finish in the 3000 meter race (9:50.27) at the America East Championships.
Heine, who owns a 3.96 GPA as an English major, is a two-time America East Commissioner's Honor Roll selection and has been on the Dean's List five semesters with the Wildcats. She has been awarded a Dean's Scholarship to attend the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law this fall. Heine's other academic awards include the The Gary Lindberg Memorial Scholarship (2021) and the Richard E. Galway Scholarship (2019). Heine is an intern at UNH Innovations, where she works with the university's intellectual property with hopes to pursue a career in intellectual property law post-graduation. Heine tied for fourth place in the pole vault as she cleared the bar at 11-feet, 5.75 inches at the America East Championships and then recorded a fourth-place finish in the pole vault at 11'5.75" at the New England Championships on Feb. 4.
