Tasmin Cookman Named ECAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Year

DANBURY, Conn. – Tasmin Cookman (Woking, England), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire field hockey team, was named the ECAC Division I Field Hockey Rookie of the Year on Dec. 16. She is the first UNH Wildcat to receive this accolade.
Earlier this month, Cookman was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America Third Team as well as to the Synapse Sports All-Rookie Team.
Her other accolades in 2022 include NFHCA Northeast Region First Team, America East Rookie of the Year, America East All-Conference First Team – the only freshman on the First Team – and America East All-Rookie Team.
Cookman is ranked No. 7 nationally in points per game (2.15), No. 9 in goals per game (0.80) and No. 23 in assists per game (0.55). On the America East leaderboard, she is No. 2 in points, points per game, goals and goals per game, as well as No. 5 in both assists and assists per game.
Cookman was UNH's leader in goals (16), game-winning goals (three), assists (11), points (43), shots (63) and shots on goal (36). Her 43 points tied for No. 6 on the program's all-time list of single-season superlatives and the most ever by a UNH freshman.
She recorded a point in 14 of 20 games with a trio of four-game point streaks, the last of which was also a four-game goal streak. She finished with four multiple-goal games and three multiple-assist games.
Cookman played 1,134 of a possible 1,253 minutes (90.5%) to rank third on the team – second among field players.
Cookman's other conference accolades in 2022 included two-time Offensive Player of the Week and three-time Rookie of the Week.
New Hampshire finished the 2022 season with 10 wins and a trip to the America East semifinals.
