Sheppard Records Shutout in 2-0 Victory Over UMBC

BALTIMORE, MD. – Grad student goalkeeper Cat Sheppard (Nesconset, N.Y.) recorded a shutout this afternoon as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team took down UMBC, 2-0 on the road.
The Wildcats' record improves to 7-5-1 (4-1-1, America East) and the Retrievers falls to 5-7-4 (1-4-2, America East).
UP NEXT:
· The Wildcats return to action on Thursday Oct. 27, when they head to UMass Lowell at 7 p.m. to take on the River Hawks.
FIRST HALF:
· Junior back Ella Dudley (St. Augustine, Fla.) struck first in the 45th minute when she knocked the ball to the back of the net off a header. Junior forward Emily Bini (Guilderland, N.Y.) notched an assist on the goal as she perfectly placed a corner kick directly to Dudley who was planted on the far goal post.
SECOND HALF:
· Grad Student Gudrun Haralz (Kópavogur, Iceland) gave the 'Cats a 2-0 lead in the 48th minute when she rocketed a shot to the top right corner of the net. Senior midfielder Whitney Wiley (Vienna, Va.) forced a turnover which led to sophomore midfielder Meghan Guarente (Sewell, N.J.) moving the ball to Haralz for the assist.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
· The Wildcats outshot the Retrievers 3-1.
· UNH took eight corner kicks compared to UMBC's four.
· Sheppard and UMBC's McGrunder both made one save.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
