DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's hockey team will hold its annual Stick it to Stigma game Feb. 4 when the Wildcats face off against Boston College at the Whittemore Center. Admission to this six o'clock game is free for everyone.
UNH women's hockey partners with Connor's Climb Foundation, The Benny Fund and the NH Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to Stick it to Stigma. These organizations work together to provide suicide prevention education, mental health awareness and other vital programs and resources to New Hampshire youth and the community.
UNH will wear special edition jerseys that will be auctioned during the game and presented to winners at the end of the game. Proceeds from the auction go directly to suicide prevention efforts in New Hampshire.
One of the goals at Connor's Climb Foundation is to help alleviate the stigma surrounding mental health by helping to host Stick it to Stigma games. The intent is to create a positive and open environment where kids and parents see that it is okay to talk about mental health and suicide, thereby reducing the stigma surrounding it; and to teach kids to ACT – acknowledge, care and tell.
