Gymnasts from Cary, N.C., and Austin, Texas to join team in fall of 2022
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire gymnastics program announced Friday that Leah Moreno of Cary, N.C., and Sam Nokes of Austin, Texas, each signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Wildcats as freshmen in the fall of 2022.
"We are so thrilled to announce the signing of these talented young women," head coach Lindsey Bruck Ayotte said. "They each bring a high level of gymnastics with a balance of power and grace. These ladies have achieved a great deal already, but we know the best is yet to come. We cannot wait for them to join the Wildcat family."
Leah Moreno
Moreno, who is entering her fifth season as a Level 10 gymnast, competes for Bull City Gymnastics in Cary, N.C. She is a four-time state and regional qualifier and has also competed at Eastern Nationals. Her career highlights include a seventh-place finish in vault and second place on uneven bars at 2021 Regionals. In 2018, Moreno took third place on vault at regionals. She prepares for the 2022 season with start values of 10.1 on bars, balance beam and floor exercise.
Sam Nokes
Nokes, who is going into her third year of Level 10 competition, competes for National Elite Gymnastics in Austin, Texas. She was a 2021 state, regional and national qualifier who placed 10th on bars at nationals and registered a personal-best 9.750 on bars. Her bar start value is 10.1 going into the 2022 season.

The first opportunity to catch the 'Cats in action takes place at the annual Meet the Team intra-squad exhibition scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11, at 4 p.m. in Lundholm Gym. The regular season begins with a home tri-meet against Towson and Southern Connecticut State on Sunday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m.
