VESTAL, N.Y. –George Tinsley led the Bearcats with 16 points as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell to Binghamton, 65-44, Saturday afternoon at the Events Center. The Wildcats fall to 7-7 overall (6-5 America East), while the Bearcats improve to 2-12 overall (2-9 America East).

Redshirt freshman guard Blondeau Tchoukuiengo (Montreal, Quebec) led the Wildcats with 10 points, while junior guard Qon Murphy (Charlotte, N.C.) posted eight points. Brenton Mills added 10 points for Binghamton.

UNH grabbed 34 rebounds and shot 25.9 percent from the field, while the Bearcats posted 48 rebounds and shot 45.3 percent.

The Wildcats will return to action when they conclude the two-game series at Binghamton on Sunday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. on ESPN3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

First Half

Junior forward Jayden Martinez (Cibolo, Texas) scored the first five points for the Wildcats on a layup and a 3-pointer as the Wildcats led early at 5-3 with 17:57 left in the first half.
With the game tied at 8-8, UNH went on a 3-0 run to take an 11-8 lead on a jumper by Murphy and a made free throw by freshman guard Jon Willeman (Lebanon, N.H.).
But the Bearcats would then outscore UNH by a 27-18 margin to take a 35-29 lead to the half.

Second Half

After Murphy posted the opening basket of the second half on a layup, Binghamton went on a 5-0 run to increase its lead to 40-31 with 18:14 remaining in the half.
With the Bearcats now leading 45-34, they scored six straight points for a 51-34 advantage with 10:54 left.
Binghamton would tally its biggest lead of the game at 26 points with a 62-36 margin with 4:37 remaining and would go on to record the 65-44 win.
