STORYLINES
UNH has a 21-19 record against Binghamton and that includes last season's series sweep. The Wildcats have won five of the last six matchups at Binghamton.
Redshirt freshman Nick Johnson earned the America East Rookie of the Week award for the second straight week and league-high third time this season, the conference announced Monday (Jan. 25). Johnson registered the first double-double of his collegiate career and set career highs in points (18) and rebounds (10) in last Saturday's 71-64 victory against UAlbany at Lundholm Gym. The 6-foot-4 guard also set personal bests in field goals (eight), field goal attempts (15), assists (four) and minutes (38).
Junior forward Nick Guadarrama is No. 19 in the nation in free throw percentage at 91.7 percent; he's made 44 of 48 free throw attempts this season. On the America East leaderboard, he ranks No. 3 in scoring (15.2 ppg) and No. 7 in rebounding (6.5 rpg). He also ranks: eighth in both offensive (1.7 rpg) and defensive (4.8) rebounding; 10th in field goal percentage; and 12th in assists.
Junior forward Jayden Martinez ranks second in the conference in rebounding (8.6 rpg) and is 10th in scoring (12.8 ppg). He averages a conference-best 3.0 offensive rebounds per game and is third in defensive rebounds per game (5.6). Martinez is also fifth in blocks/game (1.1) and minutes (33.3/game), sixth in field goal percentage (.481), and 12th in 3-pointers per game (1.6).
UNH enters the weekend as the America East conference leader in rebounding (38.5 rpg) and offensive rebounding (11.3/game); the Wildcats rank second in rebound margin (+5.1), fewest turnovers per game (12.0) and assist/turnover ratio.
UNH has alternated home and road series every weekend of conference play. This is the 'Cats third consecutive week playing a school from New York and second trip to the Empire State the past three weeks.
UNH unveiled its ninth different starting lineup of the season last Sunday vs. UAlbany.
The losing team has scored 64 points each of UNH's last four games. And going back to the UMBC series, that makes six consecutive games in which the team to score 65 points first has won the game. The Retrievers broke a 64-64 tie with 2+ minutes remaining in a 68-66 win (Jan. 10) and they were the only team to hit 65 in their 69-54 win (Jan. 9).
