FRANCONIA, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire ski team won three of four slalom races and claimed first place overall at the EISA season-opening UNH Alpine Carnival held Jan. 21-22 at Mittersill-Cannon Mountain.
Fanny Sanderberg finished fourth and fifth in Friday's women's SL races
Rachel Nawrocki (New Castle, N.H.) finished third in both women's SL races Friday, and Fanny Sanderberg (Oslo, Norway) notched a fourth- and fifth-place result to help the Wildcats win both races and clinch the top overall spot with 465 points. Heidi Roussin (Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec / fourth place, SL 1) and Emma Kearing (Carrabassett Valley, Maine / fifth place, SL 2) added to the impressive showing.
Peder Nersnaes was runner-up in his first collegiate SL race Thursday
On Thursday, Peder Nersnaes (Oslo, Norway) and Marius Solbakken (Bekkestua, Norway) took second and third place, respectively, in the first men's SL before Will Bruneau-Bouchard (Quebec City, Quebec) and Corey McConville (London, Ontario) finished 2-3, in the second men's SL to give UNH the first-day lead with 217 points.
