Shannon Murdock Earns Academic All-District Honors

Six-time America East Champion to advance to Academic All-America ballot.
GREENWOOD, Ind. - University of New Hampshire graduate student Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) has been named to the 2019-20 Academic All-District Women's Track & Field / Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance in athletic competition and in the classroom. Murdock will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced from June 22-25.
To be nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a major contributor to the team athletically, have reached their sophomore year and have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA.

Murdock completed her undergraduate career with a 3.72 cumulative GPA in Nursing, and held a 4.0 GPA after her first semester of graduate school. Murdock was named the 2019 America East Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year and the 2020 America East Indoor Track and Field Scholar Athlete of the Year. Also she is a 2019-20 America East All-Academic Team member for cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field.

Murdock is a six-time America East track and field champion as she won the 5000m at the 2020 indoor championships and she has won five relay championships. Murdock placed third at the 2019 America East Cross Country Championship and was honored as the women's cross country Elite-18 award winner, awarded to the event medalist with the highest GPA.

She placed second in the 1500m at the 2017 America East Outdoor Championships, placed second in the mile at the 2017 America East Indoor Championships and placed second at the 2017 America East Cross Country Championships.

Murdock is a four-time member of the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll. She was a 2018 and 2019 inductee into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National Collegiate Athletic Honor Society.

The UNH women's cross country program won its seventh America East Championship in program history in 2019. The Wildcats also won in 2003, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Seven titles are the most by any other current America East Cross Country program, and second-most all-time.
