Alpine co-captain takes fourth place on Day 1 of NCAAs

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Patrick Kenney (Hingham, Mass.) earned All-American First Team by virtue of his fourth-place finish in men's giant slalom at Bridger Bowl to highlight the University of New Hampshire ski team's performance in Wednesday's opening day of competition at the 2020 NCAA Skiing Championships, hosted by Montana State University.
Kenney, a junior co-captain, registered the fastest time in the second run (53.68 seconds) to rally from 11thplace to fourth overall (1:47.84). This marks the second straight season the native of Hingham, Mass., has been an All-American. In 2019, he claimed Second Team courtesy of a 10th-place finish in GS at Vermont.
"I'm obviously really happy with PK's result today," alpine head coach Brian Blank said. "Just like last year at NCAAs, he won the second run. The difference this year was his better first run.
"And what a great team finish," Blank added. "We wanted to be Top 5 after the first day, so we are feeling good."
