Massachusetts signees each have potential of joining all-around
DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire gymnastics head coach Lindsey Bruck Ayotte announced that Alyssa Beaulieu (Holyoke, Mass.) and Gracy Mowers (Middleton, Mass.) each signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Wildcats in the fall of 2021.
"We are extremely excited to officially welcome Alyssa Beaulieu and Gracy Mowers to the Wildcat family," Bruck Ayotte said. "These two young ladies are going to make an immediate impact on our team."
Beaulieu is a Level-10 gymnast who competed at Roots Gymnastics Center for coaches Steve and Pam Pryor. The Holyoke, Mass., native is a three-time qualifier (2017-19) for Junior Olympic National, Regional and State championships. Beaulieu placed fourth in all-around at 2019 JO Regionals, and she shined at 2018 JO Nationals by placing 10th on balance beam and 12th in AA.
"Alyssa brings grace and power to everything she does," Bruck Ayotte said. "She has unique skills that will help change up the lineup. Her clean lines and consistency have the potential to help us on every event."
Mowers, a Level-10 gymnast who competed for Masconomet High School and the Yellow Jackets club team, won the 2020 Massachusetts all-around state individual championship in February with first-place finishes on vault and floor and a runner-up placement on uneven bars. In 2019, the Middleton, Mass., native qualified for JO Nationals and won the regional and state vault championship. Mowers' mother, Jana (Reardon) Mowers '97, was a standout Wildcat gymnast (1995 ECAC Gymnast of Year) who was inducted into the UNH Hall of Fame in 2014. Her father, Mark Mowers '98, is a 2006 UNH Hall of Fame inductee who starred for the Wildcat men's hockey team and played seven seasons in the NHL.
"Gracy's love for the sport and UNH shows with everything she does," Bruck Ayotte said. "She continues to get better each year and I know the best is yet to come. Her skills are right up there with some of the best in the country. I can't wait to have everyone see what she can do!"
"These two young ladies are going to be a force to reckon with," Bruck Ayotte added. "I can see each one of them stepping into the all-around. We are so excited to finally have them a part of our family and can't wait to see what they do for UNH gymnastics."
