BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – University of New Hampshire gymnastics associate head coach Lindsey Bruck Ayotte, assistant coach Sunny Marchand and volunteer assistant coach Ed Datti were recognized Thursday as the NCAA Northeast Regional Assistant Coaches of the Year while UNH associate athletic director for operations Carrie Kimball was feted as Northeast Regional Administrator of the Year by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).
Bruck Ayotte, Marchand and Datti assisted 40th-year head coach Gail Goodspeed and guided the Wildcats to the 2019 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship and a trip to the NCAA Athens Regional Championship at the University of Georgia.
UNH went 23-4 overall and 11-2 in league competition, which culminated with an EAGL Championship victory over league rivals George Washington, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, North Carolina and Towson at the Whittemore Center on March 23. The 23 victories represented the most since 2003 and the second-most in program history (24 wins, 1982).
"The assistant coaches at UNH are amazing," said Goodspeed, the 2019 EAGL co-Head Coach of the Year whose staff guided the 'Cats to NCAA Regionals for the 36th time in 38 years and postseason competition for the 38th time in 40 seasons. "The best thing I can say is that I never have to worry about something getting done and often things are completed prior to asking who wants to do it. At UNH, our coaching staff takes care of many aspects of the program, above and beyond coaching. We work well as a team, and all of us have input on every event."
Datti, Goodspeed's husband now in his 38th year with the program, earned his 11th career NCAA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year award (1991-94-97-2001-03-06-08-10-12-14-19), while it is the first such honor for Bruck Ayotte (third season) and Marchand (second season).
Kimball, who was previously named the 2019 EAGL Administrator of the Year, garnered the NCAA Regional Administrator of the Year honor for the fifth time (2003-05-14-17-19) after her efforts as meet director for the EAGL Championship and her service on the NCAA Division I Women's Gymnastics Committee. The former chair of the committee was instrumental in the Wildcats' hosting a regular season quad meet at the Whittemore Center on Jan. 18, which prepared them to win their third EAGL title two months later. Kimball additionally helped UNH maintain its position as host site of a 2021 NCAA Regional Championship after the NCAA reduced the number of sites from six to four beginning this season.

"Carrie is always working to make our meets run smoothly," Goodspeed said. "She takes care of all our judges' requests, travel and accommodations. In addition, she has provided the personnel to make all our events run professionally, implemented our score videoboard display to keep all coaches, fans and gymnasts up to date on every score, and she is driven to help in whatever manner she can."
With a final National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 195.680, the UNH gymnastics team finished the season ranked 34th nationally. Senior Danielle Mulligan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) won the EAGL uneven bar championship for an unprecedented third straight season to highlight 10 Wildcat gymnasts who totaled 17 All-EAGL awards. Led by all six seniors, a total of 17 Wildcats collected EAGL All-Scholastic Team distinction, the most of all EAGL schools for the second year in a row.
