Olsson, Woodhouse, Kenney each claim All-American Second Team in giant slalom
STOWE, Vt. – University of New Hampshire alpine skiers Lisa Olsson (Stockholm, Sweden), Emma Woodhouse (Collingwood, Ontario) and Patrick Kenney (Hingham, Mass.) each earned All-American Second Team in giant slalom Thursday at Mount Mansfield Ski Club on Day 2 of the NCAA Skiing Championships, hosted by the University of Vermont.
Lisa Olsson Earned All-American Second Team
In women's GS, Olsson combined a first-run time of 58.86 seconds with a second-run time of 1 minute, 3.64 seconds for a combined 2:02.50 for seventh place (25 points). Woodhouse registered times of 58.83 and 1:03.81 for a combined 2:02.64 (ninth place, 22 points).
It was the first time two Wildcats collected All-American honors in the same GS since the 2013 NCAA Championships (Coley Oliver, First Team; Taylor Vest-Burton, Second Team) at Middlebury. The last time two Wildcat women's skiers shared All-American distinction in the same race came in the 2009 NCAAs at Bates College when Veronique Archambault-Leger and Aileen Farrell accomplished the feat in both GS and slalom.
As the only UNH skier in NCAAs for the second straight season, Kenney roared back from the 21st-fastest time in his initial run (57.84) to post the third-fastest time (1:00.62) in his second run to notch 10th place (1:58.46, 21 points) and his first career All-American accolade.
Will Bruneau-Bouchard (Quebec City, Quebec) raced to 17th place (1:59.32, 14 points) to round out the four Wildcats in action on the first day of alpine racing.
