Watkins, Winer set career-highs (9.900) on floor
DURHAM, N.H. – Emma Winer (Georgetown, Mass.) and Ava Watkins (Cherry Hill, N.J.) each set personal-bests on floor exercise to share first in the event to help the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team to a comeback victory with a score of 196.000 over No. 25 North Carolina State (195.850), Rutgers (194.625) and Brown (192.125) on Saturday night at Lundholm Gym.
Winer and Watkins each scored a 9.900 to share first on floor with Jenna Rizkalla of Rutgers, while Hailey Lui (Collegeville, Pa.) and Riley Freehling (Southington, Conn.) added career-high performances of their own on floor (9.850, T-5th) to help UNH improve to 15-2 on the season, including 8-0 at home and 4-1 in EAGL.
Danielle Mulligan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored her second consecutive 9.900 on the uneven bars to share first place and finished first on balance beam with a 9.900.
"We had such awesome team energy tonight, and when they're challenged they step up," said head coach Gail Goodspeed. "We didn't count a fall across the board and paid attention to sticking vaults. Every class stepped up -it was great."
