Mulligan honored as Gymnast of Week, Bondanza claims Specialist of Week
BALTIMORE - The East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) announced Tuesday that University of New Hampshire senior gymnast Danielle Mulligan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) is this week's EAGL Gymnast of the Week for the second week in a row, and Wildcat senior Courtney Bondanza (Buffalo, N.Y.) is the EAGL Specialist of the Week for the first time in her career.
The Wildcat duo was feted for their respective performances in Sunday's 195.500-194.475 victory over George Washington University at Lundholm Gym. UNH set a season high score and recorded its sixth straight win to up its record to 6-1.
Mulligan equaled her career high in all-around (39.275) for the second meet in a row. She began the afternoon by setting a personal best on vault (9.825) to tie for first place on that apparatus for the first time in her career. The native of Farmingdale, N.Y., then topped all competitors on uneven bars (9.900) for her fourth bars' victory in five meets and capped the event with a first-place 9.850 on floor exercise to win all-around for the third time this season.
Bondanza made the most of her one event by executing a 9.875 on balance beam to share the event victory. It was the second beam triumph in three meets for the Buffalo, N.Y., native, and a nice bounce-back performance coming off a season-low 9.075 at Yale one week earlier. Bondanza headlines a Wildcat beam lineup that ranks No. 1 in EAGL with an average score of 48.975.
UNH has now won six EAGL weekly honors in its first four weeks of competition:
