DURHAM, N.H. -- Dylan Laube (Westhampton, N.Y.), a freshman running back on the University of New Hampshire football team, was named Honorable Mention as an all-purpose player on the HERO Sports Freshman All-America Team. The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon.
There were two all-purpose players on the Freshman All-America Team and Laube was one of two selected Honorable Mention.
Laube led UNH and all FCS freshman in all-purpose yards per game at 137.20, and that number ranked No. 12 in the nation.
In 10 games, he had 63 carries for 285 yards (4.5 yards per carry), 28 catches for 412 yards (14.7 yards/catch) and 29 kickoff returns for 675 yards (23.3 yards/return) for a total of 1,372 all-purpose yards. He finished with five touchdowns (one rush, four receive).
Laube led the Wildcats in both kickoff returns and kickoff return yards, and the five TDs tied atop the leaderboard. He also ranked second on the team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving TDs, tied for second in scoring (30 points), and ranked third in both rushes and rushing yards.
He was UNH's leader in all-purpose yards eight times, including each of the last six games with a career-high 233 at #2 James Madison (15 rushing, 43 receiving and 175 kickoff return). Laube's numbers the previous three games were 125 at #24 Delaware, 130 at #22 Stony Brook and 124 vs. #11 Villanova. He finished with 147 at Florida International (Sept. 14) and then 146 vs. Rhode Island (Sept. 21). Laube helped lead UNH to victory in the season-finale against Maine with 179 all-purpose yards.
Laube had nine rushes for 61 yards, including a long of 34 yards -- all career highs -- vs. Maine. Laube's career-high 87 receiving yards at FBS school Florida International included an 86-yard TD catch. He finished with a school-record eight kickoff returns for 175 yards in the aforementioned game at JMU, but his long kickoff return of 45 yards was at Stony Brook.
