Sevilla-Connelly Paces ‘Cats at Regionals

The Wildcats post their best regional championship finish since 2014.
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University of New Hampshire men's cross country team competed in the 2019 NCAA Northeast Regional cross country championship meet this past Friday, hosted by the University at Buffalo. Led by senior Nicolas Sevilla-Connelly, the Wildcats finished 21st in the team score with 563 points.
Sevilla-Connelly posted a top-50 finish and a new personal best time on the 10-kilometer course; he finished 48th overall with a time of 29:53.0. It crushed his previous best 10k time of 33:29.0.
The 21st place team score is the program's best regional finish since 2014, a meet in which UNH also finished 21st, with a team score of 597.
The meet was won by Harvard at 59 points, followed by Syracuse with 86. The race was won overall by Hofstra's Alex Masai, finishing in 28:42.3.

- Senior Samuel Lanternier (Derry, N.H.) posted his first collegiate 10k finish with a time of 30:52.0, taking 113th overall.
- Another new personal best was set for junior Aidan Sullivan (Nashua, N.H.) with a time of 31:29.4, finishing 154th.
- UNH's final scorer was senior Alexander Saveliev (Concord, N.H.) taking 159th overall with a time of 31:31.9, a new personal best time.
- Freshman Forest MacKenzie (Deerfield, N.H.) finished 199th overall with a career debut in the 10k of 32:27.8.
