Wildcats improve to 2-1-0 in America East play.

BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team defeated the University of Vermont Catamounts by a score of 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

All three goals in the contest came in the span of five minutes, with UNH's goals coming from senior Ally Reynolds (Weymouth, Mass.) and freshman Whitney Wiley (Vienna, Va.).

UP NEXT:
New Hampshire returns home from two straight games beginning Sunday, October 13 at 2 P.M. The Wildcats will honor their 10 seniors on their final Sunday afternoon home game with Senior Day ceremonies beginning before kicking of with UAlbany. The 'Cats remain home the following Thursday evening, October 17 for the Border Battle with Maine at 7 P.M.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

New Hampshire got the first tally in the 20^th minute as a botched save fell to Ally Reynolds in the box; she was able to dribble around the pile of Catamounts that got tangled up in front of the goal and chipped in her fourth goal of the season.
Vermont tied the game just one minute later on a set-piece just outside the 18. Sheppard was in position and dove to make the save but it just snuck by for the equalizer.
The game was not tied for long as freshman Whitney Wiley took a deep shot in the 25^th minute that went over the keeper's head to retake the lead, 2-1.
Vermont's best chance to equalize again was in the 73^rd minute Vermont on a corner kick that deflected to the front of the net; UVM's Nicky Constant fired a one-timer from point-blank range but Cat Sheppard (Nesconset, N.Y.) was able to readjust and block the shot and it was cleared away.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

New Hampshire doubled up Vermont's shots on goal in each half, 10-5 in the first, 4-2 in the second.
Cat Sheppard tallied six saves in the contest on seven UVM shot attempts.
UNH took nine corner kicks in the game.
New Hampshire led possession, 57% to Vermont's 43%.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

Ally Reynolds and Whitney Wiley add to their points leads; Reynolds leads the team with 11 points, and is tied for the team lead in goals with Wiley at four goals each. Wiley now ties Reynolds for game-winning goals on the season with two.
The Wildcats are now 4-1-0 this season following a loss, and are now an even .500 on the road at 2-2-0.
New Hampshire is 2-1-0 at Virtue Field this season, after going 1-1-0 in the TD Bank Classic and defeating Vermont on Sunday.
