An even 50/50 possession battle ended in UAlbany’s favor.

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team faced the University at Albany on Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium for Senior Day. Despite tallying six shots on goal, the Wildcats fell to the Great Danes 2-0 on two second-half UAlbany goals. Senior Liz Lane (Porter, Maine) led the team in shots with four.

UNH is now 6-6-0 overall and 2-2-0 in America East. The Great Danes improved to 6-4-3, 3-0-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Jada Colbert had the first shot of the game for Albany in the 6th minute, sending the ball from the right side and into sophomore goalkeeper Cat Sheppard (Nesconset, N.Y.).
Senior Kaylan Williams (Marion, Ind.) had a chance in the 12th minute after gaining possession from a throw in and shooting the ball low in the middle of the box, but was denied by goalkeeper Sophia Chen.
Freshman Julie Cane (Titusville, N.J.) charged the net to rip a shot with just under two minutes left in the first half, but it was blocked at the last second by Chen.
The Great Danes made it on the board in the 54th minute with a goal headed in the upper-left of the net by Katie Gowing off a corner kick from Kendra Harbinger.
Gowing increased Albany's lead, 2-0, in the 67th minute. Sheppard dove to save the first shot from Hailey Summers but rebounded it into the box where Gowing was to finish the ball into the top of the net.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

UNH led in total shots 19-13, with six on target.
Great Danes led in corner kicks, 5-4.
Sheppard recorded five saves for UNH and Chen stopped six for Albany.
UNH was whistled for seven fouls in the first half to UAlbany's two; in the second half the Great Danes were called for five to UNH's two.
