Carroll Sets Career High on Vault & Mulligan Wins Two Events (UB, AA)
CEDAR CITY, Utah - Erin Carroll (Kingston, N.H.) scored a personal-best 9.900 on vault, and Danielle Mulligan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) earned individual victories on uneven bars and in all-around, but the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team was edged by Southern Utah University, 193.700-193.525, in Monday night's season-opening meet at America First Event Center.
In her first career all-around performance, Mulligan scored a 38.975 to defeat Southern Utah's Karley McClain (38.900).
UNH won three of the four events, but a counted fall on floor exercise ultimately cost the Wildcats a victory.
"I am very impressed with how the team did for the beginning of the season," said head coach Gail Goodspeed. "We had some exciting performances, and there is still a lot of room for improvement. Bars, vault and beam were up to our expectations, but we definitely need to focus on our tumbling on floor."
