Winer named Specialist of Week & Baddick wins Rookie of Week
BALTIMORE – The East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) announced Tuesday that UNH junior gymnast Emma Winer (Georgetown, Mass.) was named the Week 3 EAGL Specialist of the Week and freshman Hannah Baddick (Gettysburg, Pa.) was tabbed EAGL Rookie of the Week for their performances in Friday night's quad-meet victory over Pittsburgh, Temple and Bridgeport at the Whittemore Center.
Winer, who received the Katie Baldwin Expression Award from head coach Gail Goodspeed following the meet, set a personal best with a 9.900 on balance beam to tie for second place and help the Wildcats set a school record (49.425) on that apparatus. The junior then tied another career high with a 9.850 on floor exercise to share first place in that event. It marked the second straight 9.850 floor score for Winer, who originally established the personal best mark against Iowa in a dual meet Jan. 13 at Lundholm Gym.
Baddick was also instrumental in setting the program's all-time beam record. The freshman, who equaled Winer's 9.900 for a share of second, has been UNH's top beam performer in two of the season's first three meets and has finished no lower than second. Baddick's average beam score of 9.825 is tied for No. 3 in EAGL.
These mark the first career EAGL weekly awards for Winer and Baddick. Senior Erin Carroll (Kingston, N.H.) was the Week 2 EAGL Specialist of the Week on Jan. 15.
