The 'Cats head to Arizona next weekend for the Sun Devil Desert Classic
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell to the University of Massachusetts Minutewomen Sunday afternoon by a score of 4-0.
UMass tallied goals in the 12th, 44th, 69th, and 84th minutes to hand UNH their second straight loss.
UNH will head on the road for the next three home games, including the Sun Devil Desert Classic, facing Arizona State on Friday evening, August 31, at 10 P.M. EST, and facing Arizona on Sunday, September 2 at 2 P.M. EST.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first 10 minutes of the game saw several possession changes between both teams, with only three total shots.
- One of those shots came from junior Ally Reynolds (Weymouth, Mass.) but she was unable to pull the shot down and it went high.
- UMass struck first 11:22 into the game on a lower left-corner shot from just inside the 18.
- Junior Liz Lane (Porter, Maine) had a change on a breakaway as she gathered the ball just inside the 18, had a nice change of direction, but put the shot wide.
- UMass continued the pressure the entire half, tallying another goal in the 44th.
- The Wildcats played the final 38 minutes of the game down one player, after a red card was assessed.
- 68:06 into the game, UMass tallied their third goal on a high shot from inside the box.
- The Minutewomens' fourth and final goal came in the 84th as a deflected shot found an open UMass striker in the right side of the box.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Graduate student Mia Neas (Old Saybrook, Conn.) made six saves in the contest.
- UMass outshot UNH 12-4 in the second half, 9-4 in the first.
- 25 total fouls were called in the game.
- Freshman Cat Sheppard (Nesconset, N.Y.) saw her first career action as she closed out the final 19 minutes and 22 seconds of the game, making three saves.
- Junior Megan Rumbold (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) tallied both her shots on goal from long range on set pieces that went into the goalmouth. Her shot on goal percentage was 100%.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The 'Cats are 2-2-0 through four games; last season, they went 3-1-0 in the first four.
- The Wildcats are now 1-1-0 in day games and 1-2-0 at home.
- For the fourth straight year, the Wildcats are at or above .500 after four games. In the Steve Welham era, UNH has gone at least .500 in the first four games of the season in four of his five seasons ('15, '16, '17, '18).
