Gymnastics Lands 13 Scholastic All-Americans

Wildcats’ 3.5705 GPA ranked No. 1 in EAGL, No. 17 nationally
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Erin Carroll (Kingston, N.H.) and Danielle Doolin (Medford Lakes, N.J.) each earned a 4.00 grade point average in 2017-18 to headline a total of 13 University of New Hampshire gymnasts (64 percent of roster) honored with Scholastic All-America Awards by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).
The Wildcats' team GPA of 3.5705 topped all East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) members and ranked 17th in the country. Further, UNH was one of only six programs ranked in the Top-17 in GPA that also competed at the NCAA Regional Championships. The others were Boise State, Utah, Southern Utah, Alabama and Arizona State.
Carroll, a then-junior majoring in kinesiology: athletic training, is a three-time Scholastic All-American, three-time EAGL All-Academic Team member, was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, and received the UNH gymnastics program's Katie Baldwin Academic Excellence Award in March for posting the team's top GPA (cumulative 3.95).
Doolin, a then-junior majoring in business administration: finance, business administration: info systems & business analytics, earns her third WCGA Scholastic All-America award. The All-EAGL Second Team competitor (floor, all-around) also is a three-time member of the EAGL All-Academic Team and a Chi Alpha Sigma inductee.
Casey Lauter (Northport, N.Y.), a 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee, was honored as a Scholastic All-American for the fourth time in her illustrious career. In May, Lauter graduated with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology: Exercise Science and received the UNH Athletic Director's Award for Academic Excellence for boasting the top cumulative GPA (3.92) among all graduating women student-athletes. The co-captain was a two-time inductee into Chi Alpha Sigma, a four-time member of the EAGL All-Academic Team and scored a perfect 10.00 on balance beam in her final home collegiate meet at the Whittemore Center (March 11).
Lia Breeden (York, Pa.) also was feted as a Scholastic All-American all four years of her Wildcat career. In May, the two-time Chi Alpha Sigma inductee and four-time EAGL All-Academic Team representative graduated with a bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Student-athletes were recognized for attaining a year-long or cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above. The WCGA is the advocate for women's collegiate gymnastics. It was previously known as the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women until July 2018.

The UNH gymnastics team has qualified for NCAA Regionals 35 times in the last 37 seasons and has reached postseason competition an incredible 37 times in 39 years under head coach Gail Goodspeed. The Wildcats will host the 2019 EAGL Championship at the Whittemore Center on Saturday, March 23, against George Washington, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh and Towson. The last time New Hampshire served as the host site of the conference championship meet was 2014, when the Wildcats won the EAGL title.
