Carbone Scores Career-High 13 Points in 82-53 Loss to BU

DURHAM, N.H. – Mark Carbone (Wethersfield, Conn.) recorded13 points and eight rebounds – both career highs – in the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team's 82-53 loss to Boston University at Lundholm Gym on Wednesday night.
Carbone scored his team-high 13 points on 4 of 8 shooting from the floor, including 3-for-4 on 3-pointers. His eight rebounds matched David Watkins (Dorchester, Mass.) and Chris Lester (Barrington, Ill.) for the team high. Watkins also netted 10 points.
BU was led by Tyler Scanlon (15 points), Javante McCoy (14) and Jack Hemphill (10). Sukhmail Mathon pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and had six points.
UNH is now 2-5 overall and the Terriers leveled their record at 4-4.
LOOKING AHEAD

FIRST HALF
- McCoy hit a 3-pointer at 18:55 and Scanlon made a 3-pointer at 17:47 to give BU a 6-0 lead and prompt a UNH 30-second timeout.
- Following a turnover and basket by Garrett Pascoe, the Wildcats called another 30-second timeout at 16:56 with the visitors leading 8-0.
- Jordan Reed (Lucas, Texas) got the Wildcats started with a huge 3-pointer putting the score at 13-3.
- Midway through the first half, the Terriers led 29-7.
- Trailing 37-15 at 4:52, UNH went on a 9-0 run to claw back into the game.
- Big 3-pointers from Carbone at 3:18 and Reed at 2:53 brought the Wildcats within 37-24 with 2:53 left in the half.
- Boston University responded with a 3 from Jonas Harper and a short jumper in the paint from Alex Vilarino to quell the rally and give the Terriers a 42-25 lead at the end of the half.
SECOND HALF
- A jumper from Lester and two by Elijah Jordan (Orlando, Fla.) advanced the score to 45-29 at 17:27.
- Ten minutes into the second half, the Terriers continued to extend their lead to 61-35.
- Boston University never let the margin get smaller than 20 points and led by as many as 32 points, 82-50, with 43 seconds on the clock.
SERIES NOTEBOOK
- This was the 131st meeting in the series. BU has won four straight and holds a 95-36 advantage.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- David Hall (Bucyrus, Ohio) scored a career-high six points with four rebounds, two steals and an assist in 28 minutes, also a career high.
- Watkins' 10 points matched his season high and his eight rebounds set a season high. He played a career-high 32 minutes and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line.
- New Hampshire has lost four straight since recording a 100-61 win vs. Mount Saint Vincent.
- UNH has a 2-2 home record.
- The Wildcats have used a different starting lineup five consecutive games.
