DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) scored her 39th career goal, breaking the record for most career goals as a Wildcat, as UNH defeated Northeastern 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Murphy's goal was her sixth of the season, assisted by sophomore Maddie Murdick (Burlington, Conn.) and senior Jackie Feraco (Holden, Mass.). Senior Mia Neas (Old Saybrook, Conn.) made seven saves in her second straight shutout, her third of the season.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

The win caps off the Wildcats' first winning non-conference record since 2005 (6-5-0 in non conference play).
The 6-3-0 start is the best non-conference start in program history, with the second highest coming in 2002 when the 'Cats had a 6-4-0 non-conference record.
This was the first program victory against Northeastern since 2003, when the 'Cats defeated the Huskies in the 2003 America East Playoffs, 7-2.
The 'Cats have now shut out back to back opponents, allowing no goals to Army on Thursday night.
Murphy's 39th career goal breaks the record of 38 goals set in 1990 by Diane McLoughlin.
With that goal, Murphy is now at 88 career points, which ties the record set in 2004 by Chiara Best.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The first half saw 10 total shots, with Murphy getting two on net for the Wildcats.
Northeastern responded with one shot on goal of their own saved by Neas.
In the second half Northeastern started to pull away on the shot chart, testing Neas with three on net within the first 13 minutes.
On a Northeastern foul, in the 81st minute, Feraco sent the free kick into the box from about 40 yards out. Murdick deflected the ball down into the feet of Murphy, who one-timed it into the lower left corner.
The UNH defense settled in to defend their lead, not allowing another shot on goal for the rest of the game.
Northeastern got a couple close calls with a shot sailing just high of the net in the 82nd minute and a tough blocked shot in the 89th minute.
