Katie Audino Records Two Goals, One Assist For Career-High Five Points

BOSTON – Katie Audino (Severn, Md.) recorded two goals and an assist and Rachel Bossi (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored in overtime to lift the University of New Hampshire field hockey team to a 5-4 victory against Northeastern University in Friday night's season opener in the first game of the Terrier Classic at Boston University's New Balance Field.

Audino matched her career high of two goals as part of a personal-best five points. Bossi's redirection off a shot by Bloem van den Brekel (Eindhoven, Netherlands) ended the game at 4:04 of the extra session. Bossi was also credited with an assist to finish with three points.

Also of note offensively, Ashley Mendonca (Brampton, Ontario) recorded two assists for her first career multiple-point game. Sophomore transfer Erin McNamara (Sanbornton, N.H.) tallied an assist for her first point as a Wildcat.

Kelsey Rudert (North Grafton, Mass.) made three of her five saves in the second half and also made one stop in the extra session.

GAME RECAP

UNH took a 1-0 lead at 12:20 when Nicky Bajus (Lions Bay, British Columbia) scored on a direct shot off a penalty corner; it was her second career goal. Bossi, the stick-stop, and Audino, the insert, were credited with assists.
NU quickly tied the score, 1-1, on Ffion Thompson's penalty-stroke goal at 16:33.
The Huskies took a 2-1 lead on Kellie Stigas' redirection in front at 29:01.
Audino opened the second-half scoring to tie the score, 2-2, at 45:24.
Northeastern once again had a quick response to regain the lead, 3-2, on a breakaway goal by June Curry-Lindahl at 49:40.
Audino struck again just 34 seconds later to force the third deadlock of the game; her two goals were 4:50 apart.
UNH went back in front, 4-3, when Taylor Scafidi (Waltham, Mass.) tipped in Mendonca's entry pass at 57:48.
NU scored with 5:21 remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime. Camille O'Conor scored off a rebound for the tally.
Bossi ended the game at 74:04 with her redirection of van den Brekel's shot.
