By securing an at-large berth in the 24-team playoff field announced live Sunday morning on ESPNU, UNH extended its longest-in-the-nation NCAA football playoff streak to 14 consecutive years and reached the playoffs for the 18th time in program history.
The Wildcats posted a 7-4 record that included a 5-3 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association. Four CAA teams qualified for the tournament, including No. 1 overall seed and defending national champion James Madison, Stony Brook and Elon.
CCSU (8-3, 6-0 NEC) earned an automatic bid as the champion of the Northeast Conference. The Blue Devils, who have an eight-game winning streak, advance to the NCAAs for the first time in school history as the first NEC team to go undefeated in league competition since 2008.
UNH owns an 8-0 all-time record over CCSU, with the most recent encounter ending in a 57-14 Wildcat victory Sept. 26, 2015, at Cowell Stadium. Quarterback Trevor Knight (Amherst, N.H.), then a redshirt freshman, threw his first career touchdown and ran for his first career score in that game.
