Leissner Notches Double-Double, Men’s Hoops Completes Sweep Over UML, 80-69

DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) recorded his first double-double against a Division I opponent this season as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team handled the University of Massachusetts Lowell, 80-69, Wednesday night at Lundholm Gym.
The Wildcats have guaranteed a winning season with the win, improving to 16-10 overall and 9-4 in the America East. UMass Lowell dropped to 11-16 overall and 6-6 in the league.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With the first 12 baskets falling for UNH, the Wildcats jumped to a 27-7 lead with 13:42 to play.
UMass Lowell's offense slowly pushed back, reducing the deficit to six points, 38-32, with 2:48 remaining in the first frame. No player scored more than seven points, and seven of the nine players scored four or less points in the opening frame.
In the second half, the River Hawks scored seven points to the 'Cats two to drop the Wildcat lead to 45-39 with 16:52 to go. UNH went on a 10-2 run to retake a 14-point lead with 12:12 to play. Sophomore Iba Camara (Dakar, Senegal) scored six in the run, while Leissner and senior Ronnel Jordan (San Antonio, Texas) each tallied two points.
The River Hawks inched back to a six-point deficit, 74-68, in a last-chance effort with 50 seconds remaining, but the Wildcats scored six points to UMass Lowell's one in the final minute to secure the win.
