Gymnasts Pflieger and Doolin Earn EAGL Awards

BALTIMORE – The University of New Hampshire's gymnastics team won two East Atlantic Gymnastics League honors for the second straight week Tuesday. Meghan Pflieger (Barneveld, N.Y.) was feted as Co-Specialist of the Week for the first time this season, while teammate Danielle Doolin (Medford Lakes, N.J.) earned Co-Rookie of the Week for the fifth week in a row.
In the Wildcats' victory over Southern Connecticut last week, Pflieger scored a 9.800 on vault (tied for second), earned first place on beam with a 9.875, and finished the day by tying for first on floor with a 9.850. The junior has scored a 9.825 or higher on beam in seven of the last eight meets. She has also notched a 9.800 or higher on floor nine out of the last 11 times she has competed in the event, including each of the last four meets.
Doolin won the all-around title against Southern Connecticut with a 38.825, while also tying her career highs on vault (9.800, T-2nd) and floor (9.850, T-1st). The freshman is ranked 10th in the conference in the all-around (averaging 38.839). She is also ranked in the top 25 in the conference in vault (21st, 9.682), bars (19th, 9.679), beam (17th, 9.732), and floor (12th, 9.746).
NEXT HOME MEET
The Wildcats are back at Lundholm Gym for Senior Night/Faculty Appreciation Night versus the University of Maryland on Friday, Feb. 26 (7:30 p.m.). It will mark the final career home meet for seniors Kelsey Aucoin, Catarina Broccoli, Lauren Brodie and Cassy Izzo.
