Robin Schmidt, a graduate student from Cologne, Germany, helped the UNH men's soccer team record its first ever win in NCAA tournament history by scoring two goals in the Wildcats' 3-0 victory against Fairfield University at Wildcat Stadium on Nov. 16.
Robin opened the game scoring in the 13th minute when he buried a rebound off Jack Doherty's initial shot.
He extended New Hampshire's lead to 2-0 with less than 10 seconds remaining in the first half when he ran onto Jacob Gould's thru ball on the right side and blasted a shot into the upper-right corner.
In the NCAA second round at Dartmouth College, the game went into overtime penalty kicks with the score tied 0-0. In the fourth round of PKs, Robin calmly shot the ball into the net to give UNH an insurmountable 4-1 lead that sent the 'Cats into the third round.
Robin, the America East Striker of the Year in his only year as Wildcat, is UNH's leader in both goals (eight) and points (17).
